This is true.
Sometimes I hate that it is. But it is.
"There are no safe investments . . . To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket -- safe, dark, motionless, airless -- it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. . . the only place outside of heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is hell." (C.S. Lewis)

It is true and beautifully said. What brought this quote to the blog I wonder?
Wow. That's a stunning quote. So true......
Wow this is the truest thing ever . . . How very hurt must Jesus be . . .
Hugs to you dear Adrienne. Go right on loving because it makes you beautiful. :)
It pertains to a lot that's been on my mind lately. Thinking about the component of pain that accompanies any love that's worth having. All the things about real life and real love that the Disney princesses never showed you when you're 5. :)
I love Lewis. He indisputably has a way of taking what you've always known deep down inside and finally putting it into words for you, so that you can look at it and acknowledge its truth. He's got the gift.
